Our Story

We started this because of a phone call from the aisle.

Not a market gap. A husband standing under fluorescent lights, phone to his ear, asking his wife if this is the right lentils, because she made the list and he's the one who had to leave work early to buy it.

The trip nobody actually enjoys

Once I started paying attention, I kept hearing the same story with different names attached. Someone leaving a family function early, or turning up late, because the pantry's empty again. Someone already doing a three hour commute every day, watching the grocery run eat into the little time they had left with their kids, or with parents at home. Someone walking out having spent way more than planned, because half the shop was on special and it felt silly not to grab it.

Nobody actually sits down and decides this is how they want to spend their weekend. It just becomes the routine. People get used to it. That doesn't mean they enjoy it.

The part most services miss

Here's what really stuck with me: the person doing the shopping usually isn't the person who wrote the list. It's whoever could get away from work, standing in an aisle, calling home to check if it's the right brand or the right size, because bringing home the wrong thing means a wasted trip or an unhappy dinner table.

It's two people doing the same job, badly, from two different places.

What we decided to build

So we set out to stock everything a regular household actually needs, not just the festival aisle. Send us your list, however's easiest for you, and we'll deliver it, reliably, every week. Going to the shop becomes something you choose to do because you feel like it, not something you're stuck doing because the fridge is empty.

We're trying to give you your Saturday back, not the cheapest trolley in Sydney.

Who's behind it

Right now, it's one person running Pantry2Door full time, plus a small group of friends and family helping out however they can: sourcing stock, packing orders, testing the website, telling us honestly what we've still got wrong. We're keeping it small on purpose, for now. We'd rather earn your trust one reliable delivery at a time than promise something we can't back up yet.
